Mayer’s Garden opens today on Henderson Avenue.
It’s located in the former Jakes Burgers & Beer at the corner of Henderson and Belmont avenues. And it’s named after a saloon, restaurant, beer garden and zoo called Mayer’s Garden that opened on Elm Street in 1881.
The bar is open 3 p.m.-midnight Wednesday, 3 p.m.-2 a.m. Thursday-Friday, 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-midnight Sunday.
Happy hour is offered 3-7 p.m. Wednesday-Friday. House cocktails are $8, the Rita is $5, wine is $7, premium wells are $6 and draft beers are $5.
On its Instagram page, the bar encourages neighbors to try the turtle bite, the signature shot. Sunday, it’s opening at 11:30 a.m., and the Cowboys game will be on.
