The company decided to close its day-to-day retail operation with plans to resurface from time to time in the form of pop-ups and community art events throughout the East Dallas area.

The gallery, initially established by Christine Unruh and her husband Steve Dickson on Northwest Highway, later relocated to 9047 Garland Rd in 2021. Since the inception of the store, Makers hosted artwork of over 145 local handcrafters, workshops and gallery events.

“Thanks for the journey. To all the ‘small shoppers’ and all the talented makers, we are grateful to you all,” the company posted on Facebook.

The determining factors leading to the store closure are unknown. The Advocate has reached out to the company for comments.
