One more TXU nugget, before our new best friends, the investment bankers, bring peace and enlightenment to the utility business in Texas. According to the PUC web site that lists rates, TXU offers something called the Earthwise 18 plan, which sounds pretty green. Turns out that 37 percent of the power it uses to generate electricity comes from coal. Plus, it costs almost 6 percent more than Green Mountain’s 12-month, 100-percent renewable plan and its service charge is a couple of dollars more a month.
Note to TXU: Doing stuff like this is why people don’t like you.
