The Lakewood Shopping Center clock is expected to be reinstalled by the end of the year, said Michelle Pitsenberger, the vice president for property management at First Washington Realty.

“It shouldn’t be much longer,” Pitsenberger said. Maryland-based First Washington Realty purchased the shopping center in 2019.

The clock began to be removed in December 2021, and it hasn’t been seen since then. In February, the marketing director for First Washington Realty said the clock would be reinstalled in the same spot as before, though no timeline was given.

No clarification was provided as to what kind of work was being done to the clock, but the marketing director said First Washington Realty wanted to maintain the integrity of the local landmark.

“We completely understand how iconic it is and how important it is,” Meghan Moeltner, the marketing director, said in February.

Pitsenberger did not immediately respond to a request for more information about the work being done to the clock.

The clock was removed during construction at Lakewood Shopping Center to upgrade the facade and make way for Sweetgreen. The fast-casual salad place opened in August 2022 in the former Dixie House, Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen and Kozy Kitchen space.

In August, Starbucks is expected to open next door to Sweetgreen on Abrams Parkway.
