The theme, “Keep Calm and Lakewood On,” was unveiled Thursday as a red double-decker bus soared down Lakewood Boulevard during the neighborhood’s annual Fourth of July Parade.

Set on the rails of the Underground, residents will get the full London experience without ever leaving Dallas. Partygoers will catch a glimpse of the royal family at Buckingham Palace, the London Bridge and Big Ben at the auction party at the Omni Hotel.

Attendees should delve into their British best and dress for Wimbledon or polo. Channel your inner Elton John, Spice Girls or the British Invasion of the 1960s.

The home tour will feature six Lakewood homes, including the original Hutsell residence at 7035 Lakewood Blvd. Hutsell was a self-taught architect and built about 50 homes in the Lakewood area between 1926 and 1941. His home is known for its eclectic Spanish design, distinct chimneys, glazed tiles and elaborate metal work.

Proceeds from the event benefit Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School.
