Lakewood Elementary was ranked 27th in the top 100 elementary schools in Texas in the new list from U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News analyzed more than 102,000 pre-K, elementary and middle schools across the country to generate the rankings.
There isn’t a national ranking for the pre-K, elementary and middle schools, like there is for high schools. But the rankings were based on students’ performance on mathematics and reading/language arts state tests.
At Lakewood, 87% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 86% scored at or above the level for reading. Among 4,446 Texas schools, those rates put Lakewood at 24th for reading proficiency and 42nd for math proficiency.
