Stuck in the house with a sweet tooth? Two Lakewood Elementary students have you covered. Third-grader Molly Walker and fifth-grader Ainsley Walker will bring their mobile bakery right to your door.
They call it Rose Bakery, a project that began when the two young bakers, who live next door to each other, made desserts together when their families gathered for quarantine family dinner on Sunday nights.
One day, they decided to share their baked goods with friends. After one week of creating marketing materials and sharpening recipes, Rose Bakery hit the streets of Lakewood.
Rose Bakery delivers everything from cookies and cakes to brownies and banana bread. Fifty percent of the bakery’s sales go to Feed the Front Line. The two Walker families have agreed to match the profits going to charity.
“I love trying new twists on the recipes and making our customers happy,” Molly said. “It is also really awesome to be helping frontline workers.”
Since July 9, the bakery has made 15 sales and nearly $200.
“It’s cool to be a kid that can share our passion for baking with the neighborhood and also help a worthy cause,” Ainsley said.
