Following the exit of principal Michelle Thompson, who will take over as W.T. White High School principal, Lakewood Elementary yesterday introduced, by way of e-newsletter, its new principal, Kaye Brookshire.
Brookshire has served as a teacher, instructional coach, academic coordinator, and administrator over her 14 years in education. Kaye graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Woman’s University. She holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration from The University of North Texas. In addition to her PK-6 experience, she was a fellow in the Aspiring Principals Program Cohort I through the Dallas Leadership Academy and an adjunct member of the faculty of UT Austin for the UTCULP Cognitive Coaching Program in DISD. In her spare time, Kaye enjoys gardening and scrapbooking. Her greatest achievement, however, is that of being mom to son, Ryan, and daughters, Lindsey and Taylor.
Thompson’s Going Away Open House, thrown by the Lakewood Elementary PTA, is August 16th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Times Ten Cellars.
