Lakehill Preparatory School ended its football season Thursday as the runner-up at the TAPPS Six-Man Division I State Championship.
The previously undefeated Warriors fell 31-20 to the Emery/Weiner Jaguars at Midway Panther Stadium in Hewitt.
Lakehill led 14-8 at the half after a touchdown pass from Nathan Lewis to Mitchell Crow. But the Warriors couldn’t overcome a 23-point second half by Houston’s Emery/Weiner (12-1).

“We could not be more proud of this outstanding team,” Lakehill spokewoman Gigi Ekstrom said. “It really was an amazing season. They worked so hard. ”
Lakehill (12-1) advanced to the final after a 52-6 victory over Giddings in the Nov. 29 semifinal. In that game, the defense held Giddings, a team that averaged 40 points per game, to a season low of 6.
