Back in June, Christina talked about Elliott’s Hardware putting the company’s flagship Maple Avenue store on the market for $8 million. It seems the hardware business has changed enough that a 75,000-square-foot building like the one on Maple is too big these days. And there was speculation that Elliott’s might wind up somewhere in or near East Dallas as part of a move.

Now, the DMN reports that Kroger is seriously looking at the Elliott’s building as part of the grocer’s push to find inner-city sites. If that happens, the real estate broker working with Elliott’s says he’s focusing his search in Oak Lawn, Uptown and along Ross and Greenville avenues. As was speculated in June, the former Whole Foods building at Belmont and Greenville could be one of the sites in the running, along with many of the now-vacant car lots along Ross.
