In February 1967, the sixth Kip’s Big Boy Coffee Shop in Dallas opened in Lakewood.
The location at 6215 Gaston Ave. was also the 10th shop in Texas.
The photo, posted on the Pioneers of Dallas County Facebook page, was taken Feb. 5, 1967.
It ran with the caption: “New Kip’s at 6215 Gaston gets approval of Fred Bell, right, president of Kip’s Big Boy, Inc. and W. L. Crozier, vice president.”
The coffee shop has since become a Bank of America.
