There was a truly interesting story in the Fort Worth newspaper on Sunday, discussing the avalanche of changes in that city’s downtown over the past couple of years. Two things struck me: First, that it was a thoughtful, measured attempt to put the development in perspective, and second, that it appeared at all. I don’t know that we’d see that kind of story over here. Generally, the pieces in Dallas’ Only Daily Newspaper that discuss development discuss why it’s wonderful, and not why we might need to think about it just a little bit. (In the interest of full disclosure, I free-lance the wine column at the Star-Telegram, but have almost nothing else to do with what goes on there.)

The other thing that was funny about the story? Many people in Fort Worth are terrified that it will turn into Dallas.
