Munger Place neighbor Jeanine Michna-Bales is promoting the photo essay, “Standing Together: Inez Milholland’s Final Campaign for Women’s Suffrage,” at a solo exhibition Saturday at PDNB Gallery.

Michna-Bales explores Milholland’s journey with a series of landscape photos taken at locations the suffragette visited in her October 1916 campaign, along with photographs of recreated scenes through historic reenactments and still-life images.

The photographer’s work is similar to her previous documentation of the Underground Railroad in “Through Darkness to Light,” which was published in 2017.

Originally, “Standing Together” was scheduled to be released in 2020, the 100-year anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment, which gave women in the United States the right to vote.

An opening artist reception and book signing will be held 5-8 p.m. Aug. 28 at the gallery, located at 150 Manufacturing St., Ste. 203. The exhibition is open through Nov. 13.

Michna-Bales will also be giving a gallery talk at 2 p.m. Sept. 18.
