For The Love, by Dallas author Jason Hensel, will provide a narrative history of Kettle Art Gallery, which opened in 2005 by legendary Deep Ellum muralist Frank Campagna. Writing this book meant Hensel spent a lot of time at the gallery and built a relationship with Campagna and Paula Harris, “who is instrumental in Kettle Art’s marketing and community development,” according to the press release. Hensel’s work is expected to include artist profiles, anecdotes, oral histories, archival and new photography, and memorabilia.

For The Love is designed to be a testament to how art builds community,” Hensel said in the press release. “Each artist’s profile, contributor response and, of course, Frank Campagna’s own words tell a rich and layered story that not only draws from the past but looks to the future. Readers will enjoy the story and be inspired by the ripple effect that one gallery — and the people behind it — can have on Dallas, across Texas and far beyond.”

Ahead of publication, the book’s cover, designed by Stephanie Khattak at K.Co Press, has also been revealed.

“After some thoughtful deliberation, Jason, along with Frank Campagna and the K.Co team, chose the title For The Love,” Khattak said in the press release. “Not only does it call out to Kettle’s extremely popular February events, it also underscores the book’s predominant themes: family, community and lots of love. The cover design is inspired by Kettle Art itself — eye-catching, funky with just the right amount of edge. The word LOVE intentionally tumbles off the page because it’s an emotion that is hard to contain when talking about Kettle Art.”

You can preorder For The Love in October. The book will be available on kcopress.com and at Kettle Art Gallery.
