News of the switch came about a year ago, but the restaurant at Energy Square on Greenville Avenue remains Grub Burger Bar.

Jennifer Faren, the vice president of marketing for Hopdoddy Burger Bar, said the company is still working on renovation plans, and a likely opening date will be around late summer or early fall.

Hopdoddy is still sorting out some “big parking challenges” with the landlord, Faren said.

Grub Burger Bar opened at 4925 Greenville Ave. in 2013, one year after the Bryan-based company was founded.

In January 2022, Austin-based Hopdoddy announced that it would acquire Grub Burger Bar, and combine to form HiBar Hospitality Group, backed by private equity firm L Catterton.

This would not be the first Grub Burger Bar to transition to Hopdoddy. The Grub location in Plano is now a Hopdoddy, and so is the one in Fort Worth.

Until the Greenville Avenue location is open, residents can visit the Hopdoddy restaurants in Uptown and Preston Center.
