In the little-known fact department, neighborhood resident Randy Brooks’ most famous song — "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" — is back on the radio, thanks to the holiday season, and back in the news, thanks to a lawsuit involving the song and the TV show inspired by it. According to the latest news reports, Elmo Shropshire — who bought the song from Brooks years ago — is involved in litigation about whether the licensing people with the movie can use the song to sell bobbleheads (or something like that). Randy, unfortunately, is out of the money on this one since he sold the song to Elmo years and years ago, long before it became somewhat of a holiday national anthem. But every time I hear that song on the radio, Randy’s the guy I think of since he’s the guy who invented "Grandma".
