Remember all those big numbers for early voting in last month’s primary — almost 120,000 Democratic ballots cast? How about 3,505 for the four races to be decided today? Those of you who were all excited about the Democratic turnout need to take a long, deep breath.

It’s not much better on the Republican side, where only 8,140 voted early. That compares to 31,874 in the first round. There are only three races, and only one of which is county wide — the sheriff’s contest between Jim "Swimming Pool" Bowles and Lowell Cannaday. And, no, it won’t be any surprise at all if Bowles wins.
