The Long Run, J.L. Long Middle School’s major fundraiser, is Thursday, Oct. 4.
The 1-mile run starts at 6 p.m. at the school. The route crosses no major streets, and strollers are welcome. The 5k starts at 6:30 p.m. It travels through the streets of Old East Dallas.
Registration for the 5k costs $20 for adults and $15 for kids 14 and younger. The 1-miler costs $15, and registration is available online or in person at Luke’s Locker on Mockingbird.
Last year, about 1,000 people participated in the run, which raised about $45,000. The money goes toward extras that are not in the school’s budget, such as classroom technology, medical supplies for the nurse’s office, JROTC uniforms, musical instruments and entry fees to tournaments.
