After less than a year of business at the northeast corner of Mockingbird and Abrams, Genaro’s has closed.
CultureMap reports that the Mexican food restaurant had lockout notices posted on the door earlier this week, regarding unpaid rent and other defaults.
Genaro’s had an upscale atmosphere and a menu influenced by several types of Latin cuisine, including some impressive seafood dishes.
The Advocate’s Brittany Nunn talked with Genaro Silva last November as he prepared to open his namesake restaurant in the former bank building, which had been vacant for three years. He was no stranger to the business, having previously operated Genaro’s Tropical at Skillman and La Vista, Garmo’s on Henderson and Moctezuma on McKinney back in the ’80s.
