Freeze Cryotherapy debuted Aug. 6 at the Lakewood Shopping Center.

Owned by neighbors Joe and Megan Townsend, it offers a range of services including cryotherapy and compression therapy. An infrared sauna is also available.

The Townsends have been living in Lakewood for years and have three sons, Jackson, Jonah and Jude. The boys attend Lakewood Elementary School.

During the pandemic, as part of their health and fitness routine, Joe and Megan went to a cryotherapy spot in Uptown because there wasn’t a place offering the treatments they wanted in our neighborhood. They decided to take advantage of the market opening.

Megan started working out at Orangetheory in Lakewood Shopping Center and realized the old Turquoise & Lavender space sat empty. The Townsends thought it would be a great place to start their business.

“We’re really a small business. This isn’t a franchise,” Megan said. “This is my husband and I doing this because of the need we saw in our neighborhood.”

Freeze Cryotherapy is the only spot in East Dallas that offers all three popular therapies. Neighbors can make an appointment on the Mindbody app, but it’s not necessary. Since sessions last only a few minutes, walk-ins are welcome.

The Townsends’ business has three memberships available. The all-access unlimited plan costs $229 per month and gives neighbors the opportunity to visit as much as they want to take advantage of any of the therapies. The gold plan is $199 per month and covers 20 services each month. The silver plan costs $169 per month and includes 10 services each month.

There’s also a special discount of $50 off the all-access unlimited plan, but only a few more spots are left.

Cryotherapy’s benefits include:

  • Reducing pain and inflammation
  • Boosting immune system
  • Reducing recovery time
  • Increasing energy and metabolism
  • Improving sleep
  • Burning 400 calories in each three-minute session
  • Stimulating collagen production
  • Reducing appearance of cellulite

Compression therapy can remove lactic acid, improve the range of movement and flexibility, reduce recovery time and increase circulation.

A session in the infrared sauna can boost energy and metabolism, increase circulation, improve skin, detoxify the body, allow for relaxation, relieve pain and stress, burn calories and soothe muscles.
