Laura Bush, the former First Lady and wife of President George W. Bush, is set to be honored as the 2015 recipient of the Hearts of Texas Lifetime Achievement Award by the East Dallas-based Volunteer Center of North Texas.
She will receive the award and give the keynote address as the honoree at the 9th Annual Hearts of Texas Luncheon at the Belo Mansion in Dallas. Gene Jones, the 2014 honoree, will present the award.
Established in 2007, the Hearts of Texas Awards Luncheon is the Volunteer Center’s signature event, and it showcases the importance of volunteerism in the community by recognizing outstanding leaders in North Texas. Each of the volunteers who have been honored at the luncheon have “dedicated themselves to the community through the donation of their time, talents, and resources,” according to a press release regarding today’s event.
