In our neighborhood, the beginning of 2022 comes with the debut of a fitness studio. It’s called Fit Social Club, and it’s opening in Mockingbird Station on Jan. 7.

We mentioned it in an October roundup of tenants moving into the shopping center.

Mockingbird Station presented a great location for Fit Social Club because of its proximity to Uptown, SMU, East Dallas and Lakewood, Lake Highlands and Highland Park, the gym’s owners said in an email.

Fit Social Club was started by Michael and Erin Vara, a husband-and-wife duo who have more than 15 years of experience in the fitness industry. Michael was introduced to indoor cycling while he was in college, and it started his career in boutique fitness. Erin, who’s from Plano, ran professionally for two years and was sponsored by Adidas and Brooks. After she retired, she started working with young athletes across the metroplex.

The couple had a studio in Uptown, but it closed in February 2021. After that, they and their coaches started doing pop-up classes at different locations, including at Mockingbird Station. The Varas don’t live in East Dallas, but some of their staff do.

Now, Fit Social Club will be there permanently, in suite 192, which used to house Urban Outfitters before it moved to a different suite.

There are three 45-minute class types available: intensity, cycling and ignite.

All class packages will be 15% off Jan. 7-9, and there will be raffles to win free classes, gift cards, Dallas Mavericks tickets and more. On Jan. 8, StretchLab will lead stretching sessions, and products from Terlingua Coffee and Clean Juice will be available.
