Former Dallas Fire-Rescue Chief Dominique Artis left his position after being promoted to chief of public safety earlier this year. The City embarked on a local and regional search for the new Fire-Rescue chief and found 32 candidates, according to a City of Dallas press release. Out of those, the following finalists were selected:

  • Justin Ball, Dallas Fire-Rescue interim fire chief
  • Todd Alt, Tampa, Florida Fire Rescue assistant chief
  • Raymond Hill, Fort Worth Fire Department executive assistant chief
  • Samuel Peña, Houston Fire Department former fire chief

“Dallas Fire-Rescue is a leader in the nation with innovative programs that provide emergency and medical services for all of whom we serve,”  Tolbert said in the press release. “DFR contributes to making Dallas one of the safest large cities in the country, and I am certain we have finalists who can continue to propel it forward.”

The finalists will meet with City Council members at 4 p.m. April 3 in the Flag Room, and then they will meet with stakeholders at 5:30 p.m. that same day.
