Both of our neighborhood’s DISD trustees — Leigh Ann Ellis and Ron Price — will be at a community forum tomorrow morning, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m., at Skyline High School, 7777 Forney.
The district’s official e-mail stated that the forum is being held to "gain input on matters dealing with the governance, academics and support of the Dallas ISD." So I called Leigh Ann Ellis to see if I could find out what that meant. She essentially said it’s a chance for Joe Citizen to ask questions and air concerns before board members without having to find his way through the maze of formalities at board meetings — "more or less to informally ‘just talk.’"
"I would hope that it would allow parents and community to have a better understanding of their board makeup and Dr. Hinojosa," Ellis says. "Also, I would like to see ‘new faces’ to encourage community participation, and who knows, maybe as an arena to encourage the growth of future board members."
