Lakewood Library was buzzing with voters this morning, which is no surprise since it’s the Democratic polling place for precinct 3209, a heavily Democratic area. Turns out a French man walked in this morning, exclaiming that he was excited just to watch the process.

The precinct chair also received a phone call from someone in Washington, D.C., who told the chair that national news cameras would be at this polling place tonight for the caucus. So if you want to be on TV …

Internet voter registration proved to be a problem at the Lakewood Library this morning. One couple showed up who had registered online at the same time; she was registered, and he wasn’t. And other people who had registered online were not showing up on the voting rolls.

Since this is the first presidential primary election in some time in which Texans’ votes have mattered, voting this morning has been a discovery process for some people. One person told me she went to Northridge Presbyterian and was surprised to see two sections, one for Democrats and one for Republicans. The Democrats were very enthusiastic and outgoing, she told me, and the Republicans were very business-like and matter-of-fact. (Though she may have been a bit biased, being a Democrat.)

She also received an "I Voted" sticker, which I was excited about because I haven’t seen those in some time.
