El Porton will serve cappuccinos and other espresso drinks, as well as drip coffee and pastries, according to CultureMap. A different coffee will be highlighted each month and paired with a food item to bring other cultures to life. Co-owner Isabel Amaya will use her previous experience as a chef to create the pairings, but in some cases, she’ll partner with a local bakery.

“One month, we might do a coffee from Colombia, which has orange flavor notes, so we’d pair with a fruity dessert,” Amaya told the publication. “For an espresso pairing, we’d combine it with a nut and chocolate pastry to emphasize those same flavors you often find in espresso.”

Amaya and her husband Bruno Bianchi — both from El Salvador — hope to teach coffee drinkers more about growers and producers when El Porton opens in the southeast quadrant of the shopping center, according to CultureMap. El Porton’s Facebook page features producers, such as Wild Forest Coffee, who create innovative, high-quality coffee through sustainable and ecological practices.

An opening date has not yet been released as the City of Dallas struggles to keep up with permitting requests because of the coronavirus. In the meantime, El Porton will sell coffee beans and tumblers designed by a local artist beginning this week.
