I realize that the parts of Dallas that are north of the Trinity are as remote as Oklahoma to Oak Cliff’s Ed Oakley, but if he wants to be the next Dallas mayor, he needs to know what’s what up here.

Like, for instance, my councilman is not Bill Blaydes, but Gary Griffith (who has endorsement issues of his own). I live in East Dallas, not Lake Highlands. Which means that the mailer I got on Friday, telling me that my councilman, Bill Blaydes, wants me to vote for Oakley, is not just wrong, but insulting. Someone running for mayor should know the difference between East Dallas and Lake Highlands. It’s dry up there, for one thing, and they’re in a different school district.

But here is some advice, in the spirit of bi-partisanship. If Oakley is unsure about which council district is where, he can go to the Dallas County elections site and plug in addresses. Or, failing that, he can advertise in the Advocate. We do magazines in both East Dallas and Lake Highlands.
