It was a bit of a mad dash for the daycare, but — with the help of parents and other community volunteers — the East Dallas Developmental Center managed to make the move from their old located in the Skillman-Live Oak Shopping Center, to a brand new location right across Oram. And they did it all in a single weekend.

The East Dallas Development Center, better known as the EDDC, was asked to move into the old Coldwell Banker building by their landlord Stonelake Capital Partners, but it has actually been a good thing for them, they say. They’ve gotten a brand new building with extra rooms, a private playground area, and more parking.

EDDC has been a fixture in East Dallas for more than 30 years and in that time has educated hundreds of children, from 6 weeks to 5 years old. The waitlist to get into the school is long and growing longer, so this expansion was much needed. Even in the new building, there’s a wait list for the infants (and probably always will be, they say), but there are openings in the 2 and 3-year-old classrooms. The pre-k class is currently full.

EDDC moved during the weekend of Sept. 13-15, and started classes on Sept. 16. They’re still making some finishing touches to the building, but mostly just decorating and organizing. At this point, we’re not sure what Stonelake intends to do with their old location.
