A serial burglar who wakes and often assaults his victims before making off with electronics and cash robbed a 21-year-old woman on Belmont Avenue Sunday. Police think the same man is responsible for an august robbery on Goodwin, a rape on Penrose last October and four other similar break-ins.
Descriptions of the robber have been vague and varied. Victims have described their attacker as black or Hispanic, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9, between 170 and 210, and between 20 and 25 years old. He typically strikes between 2 and 5 a.m. and enters through unlocked doors and windows. He wakes victims, which have included men and women, by contact or a loud noise. And he steals cash and small electronics like laptops and iPods.
In the most recent robbery, the woman told police she was asleep on the couch when the man attacked, and she fought him off.
