The Dallas Police Department found a dog fatally shot near Tenison Park.

The dog, a black-and-brown shepherd mix, was found in the 7100 block of E. Grand Avenue around 7 a.m. Oct. 26, according to DPD Beat.

Here’s what the Texas Penal Code considers cruelty to non-livestock animals:

  • Torture or in a cruel manner killing or causing serious physical injury
  • Without an owner’s consent, killing, poisoning or causing serious physical harm
  • Failing to provide food, water, care or shelter for an animal in a person’s custody
  • Unreasonably abandoning an animal
  • Moving or confining an animal in a cruel way
  • Causing an animal to fight another, if either animal is not a dog (though dog fighting is also an offense)
  • Using a live animal as a lure in dog race training or dog coursing on a racetrack
  • Seriously overworking an animal
