To mark the occasion, the hospital selected Nexus Recovery Center as the first recipient to receive $3,025 to help fund activity kits for the children of mothers who are admitting to the Center. The kits containing coloring books, crayons, snacks, and other assorted items are designed to help keep children occupied and calm during a stressful situation.

Nexus Recovery Center is a Dallas nonprofit at the forefront of specialized substance abuse services for women. Nexus offers programs for adult women and adolescent girls ages 13 to 17, including those pregnant or accompanied by children. Nexus is one of only a few programs nationally that invites women to bring their children into treatment in order to better offer women a continuum of care from detoxification to recovery support series. “Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake has a rich history serving the east Dallas community,” says Jay Krishnaswamy, chief executive officer of Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake. “It is so rewarding to support organizations like Nexus Recovery Center that make such an impact on the lives of women struggling to fight their addictions.”
