True to form, DISD trustee Ron Price was perplexing as he said "I want to spend time with my family" in announcing that he wouldn’t seek re-election to the board seat he has held since 1997, according to a DMN story. Price, who curiously seemed to think that being elected to the city council wouldn’t cut into his family time (he lost a race a few months ago against incumbent councilman Carolyn Davis), always said the right things about education (particularly when the TV cameras were focused on him), and in person, he was a charming and disarming guy. But when it came down to following up on the things he promised, he generally fell short in my experiences with him. The deadline for board filing is 5 p.m. today, and it looks like all three seats up for grabs will have several candidates. We’ll let you know who’s running for what as soon as the dust settles.
