Allowed bags and their contents will be limited at graduation ceremonies. The only kind that are permitted are clear totes that are no bigger than 12 inches tall, 12 inches long and 6 inches wide. People can also carry plastic, re-sealable storage bags as large as one gallon.
Here’s the do’s and don’ts for attending graduation ceremonies:
- Do bring a camera, but don’t bring tripods or camera cases.
- Don’t be lewd, inappropriate or disruptive.
- Do dress appropriately. Shirts and shoes are required.
- Don’t go into the staging area, graduate seating area or backstage.
- Do remain seated at all times. Take pictures from your seat in the audience so that other audience members’ sight lines are not blocked.
- Don’t bring these items inside the commencement venues: containers, coolers, food or beverages of any kind, signs, placards, mortarboards, balloons, bubbles, silly string, glitter, confetti, flags, noisemakers, bullhorns, air horns, laser pens, weapons (small knives included), and flowers, including glass vases or containers.
- Do get seated before the graduates’ processional begins. The doors will be open an hour before the ceremony. Seating is first come, first served, and saving seats isn’t allowed.
- Do leave the venues after the ceremonies end and meet your graduate outside.
