The little brick building next door to Glorias on Greenville Avenue has a new tenant.  An architecture and design start-up firm has leased the 1,700-square-foot building, which used to house a furniture store. The new company, Bloc Design Syndicate, is a partnership between five design professionals. Architect Joshua Nimmo has 13 years of experience, and played a lead role for morrisonseifertmurphy on the W Dallas Victory Residences and the One Arts Plaza Residences. The partnership also includes interior designer Brant McFarlin, fabricator Robert Wohlfeld, graphic designer Becky Siegrist and office manager Stephanie Saunders.

Nimmo lives in the M Streets and always admired the building, which used to be adjacent to a Starbucks. When it was time for him to venture a business, he found out that furniture store owner John Proffitt had outgrown the space and was moving to Phoenix. So the partners negotiated to buy out Proffitt’s lease. "It’s fairly unusual for a retail space to be reused as offices, but we believe enough in this building that we paid him quite a bit to buy out his lease," Nimmo said.
