Back-to-school donations won’t make your kids want to go back to school, but they will certainly make it better once they get there.
For the third year, United to Learn is organizing a back-to-school drive that provides critical teaching supplies for students and teachers at Dan D. Rogers Elementary that the annual budget can’t cover.
United to Learn will provide supplies to 26 other Dallas ISD schools, 1,400 faculty members and 15,900 students, many who qualify for free and reduced lunch.
“We know that each of our teachers will personally spend up to $600 to provide classroom texts, writing journals, supplies and basic technology tools when limited public school budgets can’t cover their needs,” says Abby Williams, founder and executive director of United to Learn. “We’re asking our neighbors to get involved, contribute to our learning launch and continue encouraging gains in literacy and learning.”
Neighbors can donate until Aug 16.
How to Donate
- Make a cash donation, and United to Learn staff will purchase items most needed by a teacher. Volunteers will personally deliver the supplies to the classroom.
- Shop online for classroom resources. Simply select and purchase items from the Top Classroom Needs List or buy items for a specific school. Choose the United to Learn gift registry as the shipping address so the supplies will deliver to United to Learn’s office.
- Buy classroom resources at the store and drop them off at United to Learn’s office at 5310 Harvest Hill Road by Aug. 16. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
