Students on the board get to play a greater role in affecting change by personally presenting their thoughts to the DISD superintendent and Board of Trustees. They meet monthly to discuss issues and complete community service projects, too.

Rios, set to graduate in 2013, is also involved in J.R.O.T.C. and plans to study biology, according to the DISD website.

“Bryan Adams High School has come a long way,” she says on the website. “I am very proud to walk through the halls of my school knowing that teachers and staff truly care about the education of their students. My school has shaped great leaders, motivated students, and impacted many lives. It is an honor to be a student at Bryan Adams.”

The board is made up of junior and senior class presidents at each DISD high school.
