Dallas County officials don’t know yet whether a 3-year-old who died with the flu today had the H1N1 virus or the seasonal flu. But more people die every year of the common flu than from the animal-named super viruses that get so much attention. Vaccines for the flu are available from Dallas County Heath Services now. They’re $5 for kids and $20 for adults. It doesn’t protect against H1N1, but it could help your home avoid the seasonal flu.

The shots are available at the Dallas County Health Services building Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesday, it stays open until 6 p.m.
