Afternoon meteorologist Colleen Coyle will be taking a leave of absence from ABC-affiliate WFAA while she and her husband adopt their foster child.

The M Streets neighbor said in a Facebook video that she will return to Channel 8 in early March after a six-week break to bond with her new child.

“We are adopting a wonderful, wonderful, amazing foster child,” the first-time mom said on Facebook. “We have so much love to give, and we are so excited to be able to give that to a child.”

Her announcement comes about three weeks after WFAA anchor Cynthia Izaguirre returned from her own leave for an adoption.

Coyle has been with the station for nine years covering major weather events like Hurricane Harvey and a snowstorm that hit Dallas in February 2011, according to the station’s website.

“I’m so thankful to work for a company that values adoption and family,” she said.

Although she’ll be taking time off, she is scheduled to emcee a Groundhog Day event at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, the Dallas Morning News reported.
