Torres’ daughter, who lives in Mexico, said Tuesday on Facebook that her father lived alone and hadn’t been heard from in 20 days. A few hours later, she posted that the beloved vendor had been found dead.

A GoFundMe has been started to help repatriate Torres’ body to Mexico. It had raised more than $7,300 as of Thursday afternoon.

Torres was a fixture in Deep Ellum for nearly 10 years, according to Central Track. He could be found walking the streets with the crowd, peddling his sugary wares as a late-night snack.
