Six months after construction began, Costco is opening on Coit at Churchill this week. Yes, we know this is not East Dallas, but it’s close and something our readers have followed in our coverage for a year (here, here and here).
The 150,437-square-foot store is expecting its first members on Thursday, May 11.
The Washington-based company received $3 million in economic development funds from the city of Dallas to purchase the property, which costs $16 million total. The Texas Department of Transportation previously owned the 13-acre tract of land.
Costco estimates it will bring 225 jobs to the city, most of which pay well above the state’s minimum wage.
