Chombo’s Soulful Cuisine will be moving into the location that formerly held La Bodega on Lower Greenville. The space on the south end of the strip housing Bullzerk, Shiva’s and The Old Crow has been a revolving door of unique but ultimately unsuccessful restaurants, but that hasn’t dissuaded new occupants from the prime spot.

Chombo’s will be the fifth restaurant in that location in a little over four years. Since July 2013, the space has been occupied by Jack’s Southern Comfort, Jo24, Bohemian Cafe and La Bodega, which had the longest stint at 17 months.

Teresa Gubbins at CultureMap reported that Iana Price, who owned La Bodega, also owns Chombo’s. Chombo’s was listed as one of the restaurants at the Market building at the Dallas Farmers Market in a 2015 Dallas Observer article, but it isn’t listed anymore.

A manager at the Chombo’s in Forney confirmed that the restaurant is opening location at 1905 Greenville Ave. The menu lists fried chicken, blackened catfish, hot wings, pork chops and Southern sides such as mac-n-cheese and yams.
