St. John’s Episcopal School has filed for a special-use permit to operate a child development center out of a neighboring property, according to a zoning change application filed last month with the City of Dallas.

The proposed center would be licensed by Child Protective Services for 12 children with two full-time employees, according to the application. The business would operated from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with extended hours until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The 9,100-square-foot property at 9627 E. Lake Highlands Drive is zoned as a single-family residence, with the home occupying 1,771 square feet of space. Children would have access to St. John’s gym and early childhood outdoor playground, according to the application.

There are no defined parking spaces, but parents dropping off students would have access to the home’s driveway, as well as alley access from the school to the residence.
