When a producer from “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” called One90 Smoked Meats to see about shooting an episode there, owner Kyle St. Clair couldn’t believe it.

He doesn’t know how Guy Fieri’s people found their restaurant, but he knows that the show receives submissions and assumes customers recommended them.

Though the smoked meat shop isn’t really a diner, drive-in or a dive, St. Clair thinks dive makes the most sense. “If we fit one of those, it would maybe be a dive,” he says. “We are small and in an unassuming shopping center buried in East Dallas.”

The crew from the Food Network planned to come in on a Tuesday last fall, but when Fieri’s schedule changed at the last minute, his producer called to see if they could film on Monday instead. All of a sudden, preparation day ended up being the day of the shoot. They rushed to the restaurant, closed it to customers and made it work.

St. Clair was surprised by the show’s informality. “There is no script or anything. It’s all real natural,” he says. “They are just kind of filming your interaction.”

One90 Smoked Meats will be one of three restaurants featured on the program. The owners  will celebrate with a watch party at Oak Highlands Brewery. St. Clair hasn’t seen the footage, but he says he can’t wait to see his shop turned into a shoot. “We will be seeing it for the first time with everybody else,” he says.

The show will air Friday at 8 p.m. on the Food Network.
