Tuesday afternoon update: Expect Ali Baba’s to be in its new home by mid-April, says owner Jay Chanaa. The restaurant will have an expanded menu and a lunch buffet, he says. The Greenville location wasn’t large enough for a buffet. Also, he says the new spot won’t have any of the current store’s parking problems.
Tuesday morning update: Greg Pierce at Colliers reports that Ali Baba will move its Greenville Avenue store to the Carraba’s space, so they won’t have two locations in the area. I have a call in to the Chanaas to see when they expect to make the move.
I have calls in to Greg Pierce at Colliers, which handles the leasing for the Lakewood Shopping Center, and the Ali Baba people. I’ll report back if there is any news about Ali Baba opening a store at that location.
For what it’s worth, Colliers is still listing the space for lease. On the other hand, the Chanaa family, which owns Ali Baba, seems to have applied for a building permit for the site.
