Congratulations to James B. Bonham Elementary School, which was one of 12 schools in the nation to win the National Excellence in Urban Education Award from the National Center for Urban School Transformation at San Diego State University.
To win the award, the school had to show that its students were learning challenging academic content, including reading, writing, science, math and social studies to a level that exceeds typical grade-level expectations. The award also means that Bonham teachers use methods that engage students in a fun way that is relevant to their lives.
Bonham administrators and DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa will attend the center’s High Performing Urban Schools Symposium May 7 and 8 in San Diego.
