Lakehill Preparatory School will be open as usual Monday morning despite an early Sunday morning blaze that destroyed the school’s gymnasium, says Lakehill marketing director Gigi Ekstrom.
The photo shown here and taken late Sunday morning shows the extent of the fire, which blew out windows and collapsed the roof. Ekstrom says no other parts of the school were impacted, and only physical education classes held at the school will be affected.
"The good thing was that it was after-hours and nobody was there, and it was contained in that one area," Ekstrom says.
The structure was covered by insurance, and investigators are still looking into the cause. We’ll pass along more information as it becomes available.
