Alessandra Alexandrou and her boyfriend Dan Carey were killed in a car accident Wednesday.

Very tragic news out of Huntsville, where two Bishop Lynch students were killed yesterday afternoon in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler.

A little before 2 p.m. Alessandra Alexandrou, who would have been a junior this year, was driving on Interstate 45 between Madisonville and Huntsville while her boyfriend 2011 graduate Daniel Carey, who was reportedly headed to Baylor this fall, was a passenger. According to police reports, the 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Alexandrou crossed the median and partially rolled into oncoming traffic. A southbound 18 wheeler driven by a man from South Carolina struck the vehicle, and both Alexandrou and Carey were killed instantly. The truck driver is physically OK.

The reasons for the vehicle’s roll into oncoming traffic are yet unknown. As I write, a prayer service is underway at the school.

The teenagers' vehicle crossed the median and rolled into oncoming traffic on southbound I-45.
