A Lakehill senior will appear on a TV series about the adventures of George Washington 20 years prior to the Revolutionary War.
Asher Chamoy, 18, was cast as a French prison guard in the mini series “Washington’s Armor.”
The story takes place during the French and Indian War. It follows Washington as he proves his military capabilities, setting him on the path to become the first president of the United States.
The show will likely air on a streaming service in 2022.
Chamoy plays a French guard who works the prison where English soldiers are kept. Thanks to four years of French classes at Lakehill, he delivered his lines in French.
“This was a really fun opportunity to speak the language I have been learning,” he said. “I’m in opera and choir and sang some French stuff there, so my pronunciation is good.”
The show began filming in January at Capernaum Studios near Weatherford, about an hour and a half west of Dallas. Chamoy spent three days on set. Call time was 7:30 a.m. and the crew filmed for about seven hours a day.
“It was cool to get wardrobe and makeup done,” he said. “I had a really great time, and that was the most important part.”
Chamoy has been acting since seventh grade and auditions for many local productions. He’s starred in the movie “Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Adventure” and the short film “The Colonel.”
He plans to attend Harvard University in the fall. He will study history, music and theater while acting on the side.
