The store in Casa Linda is housed in a 2,283-square-foot renovated chapel, formerly the home of White Rock Community Chapel, next to Dallas Fire-Rescue Station No. 31.

Bill Schaffler, the president of Ascension, told us in August that because of the historical nature of the building, they were taking their time with construction. There were also delays in the process because of supply chain issues, Schaffler said.

But Schaffler also told us this would be Ascension’s “most elaborate” location yet.

Designed by Foxcroft Studio, it features vaulted and beamed ceilings, arched windows and ornate chandeliers, according to a press release. There is also an open-concept bar and coffee counter, along with pew-like booth seats. Outside, there is additional seating under umbrellas, accompanied by fire pits and lush landscaping.

The menu includes craft coffee, wine and food. Coffee is roasted in Dallas, under the leadership of Jessica Keenan, the managing director of Ascension Coffee Roasters. The food menu was developed by Jason Connelly, the director of culinary and executive chef, who formerly worked as executive chef of the Adolphus Hotel.

At Ascension Coffee, customers can visit during the “golden hour” to have craft cocktails, coffee, wine and beer specials along with snacks. That service is available Wednesday-Saturday starting at 3 p.m.

Ascension Coffee is at 9353 Garland Road. Opening hours are 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday-Tuesday and 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.
