Woodrow Wilson High School’s mock trial team is moving on to the next round.
The team participated in a competition Feb. 4 with other Dallas ISD teams from Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and the School for the Talented and Gifted.
Woodrow’s performance means the team qualifies for the state competition in Dallas, scheduled for March 3-4.
The team is one of 24 from Texas to qualify.
At a luncheon this week held for Dallas ISD’s mock trial teams, Woodrow team member Tyler Joplin was recognized for being one of eight students to receive a “best witness” nomination for exemplary performances across six rounds of competition.
Last year, Woodrow placed ninth at the state competition, and Booker T. placed first, advancing to the national competition, where the team finished fifth.
